A Life-Changing Random Encounter: My Journey from India to Canada

Fifteen years ago, while traveling in India during my round-the-world trip, I had a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively.

I happened to meet a Canadian in the cafeteria of a backpacker’s hotel. To my surprise, he spoke fluent Japanese and we instantly hit it off. He was incredibly kind to me and provided me with various information as I continued to travel westward from India.

Wanting to thank him someday, I eventually arrived in Canada, the final country of my 50-country journey. I visited him, made new friends, met my future wife, and before I knew it, 13 years had passed. That random encounter led me to immigrate to Canada.

If I hadn’t stayed at that hotel, my life might have taken a different path. You never know what life has in store for you. I believe that if you live with a positive attitude, you’ll encounter more amazing experiences.
